MINI-COURSE CHECKLIST:
WHAT WILL MY DOG LEARN?
Our trainer, Frank Brader, has specifically designed this mini-course to teach people basic obedience for their dogs. You and your dog will learn how to: heal, sit, stay, sit-stay, down, down-stay, come, watch me, leave it and possibly more depending on time and how hard everyone practices their homework! The more everyone practices - the more we can cover!
WHO IS FRANK?
Frank Brader, our dog trainer is a professional, full-time trainer from Illinois. He migrates to Wyoming twice a year to the Cody area and while he's here, he teams up with his dog-loving web designer (aka-class organizer) and he trains for 2 saturdays (one mini-course) in the Spring and again in the Fall. Frank has 40 years experience and runs a well-organized and disciplined class - but yes, we still have fun!! MORE ABOUT FRANK, CLICK HERE!
FAQs
- CAN I JUST ATTEND ONE DAY OF CLASS?
- MY DOG IS NOT OBEDIENT AT ALL. SHOULD I BRING HIM/HER?
- CAN OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS ATTEND TRAINING?
- WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?
- WHAT DOES A THERAPY DOG DO?
The first class is mandatory. The second class builds on skills learned in the first class. Course cost is the same for 2 days or 1 day. It's highly recommended to attend both to get the most out of training and to do your homework between classes.
Absolutely!! That is exactly what the class is for. However, if your dog is aggressive, a soft muzzle is required. Frank runs a strict class and provides you with the information you will need to restrain your dog.
Yes! We encourage you to bring family members that will also be handling the dog so everyone is on the same page. However, young children must be supervised by an additional adult so the primary handler of the dog can devote their full attention to class.
REFUNDS for classes will be given if the request is received 24 hours before the start time of the first class. No refunds will be given for requests received within 24 hours before class starts - unless your spot can be filled in time for the first class - then your refund will be in the form of a credit for the same amount paid for an upcoming class offered by Frank Brader via Wyo Dogs. No discounts or money back given if you attend the first class but do not participate in subsequent classes.
In Illinois, Frank has help to train over 80 certified Therapy Dog/Handler Teams! We would like to create more awareness about therapy dogs and how to get certified. Dogs must be at least one year old to be tested and all it takes is a friendly dog/handler team that has the willingness to share their dog (and all it's love) with someone who is not able to have a pet of their own - be that at a health facility such as a hospital or nursing home, school, library, special needs centers, medical housing, etc. Some facilities require a dog to be certified in order to visit.
We are fortunate to have Frank as an evaluator so not only can he train handler teams but he can also certify them!
